Well-defined nanosized hollow TiO2 capsules with the diameter of 80–100 nm were prepared through aging dissolvation technique for the first time to remove the templates of core–shell composite spheres. The as-prepared TiO2 nanocapsules were characterized by TEM. Furthermore, the antimicrobial triclosan was loaded into these nanocapsules. The loading of triclosan was determined by TGA–DTA, and the loading amount is about 29 wt.%. The release behavior of the entrapped triclosan molecular was investigated by UV–visible absorption (UV–vis). There is a moiety of triclosan that was loaded inside the TiO2 shell. The results indicated that this drug release system has a sustained-release property. Such antimicrobial-loaded TiO2 nanocapsules can be used as additive in household and personal care chemical industry.
