Study of functional barrier layer on PVC by PECVD for migrations resistant

► SiOx and DLC layers were deposited to block the toxic di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) migration from plastics. ► As low as 3.72 wt.% DEHP migration was achieved in 100 nm SiOx coated PVC. ► The smooth surface, good adhesive and low inner tension were responsible for the high barrier properties.
