Co-deposited composite coatings with a ceramic matrix destined for sliding pairs

► A new co-deposition method of composite sliding layers producing has been developed. ► Layers consist of porous ceramic and metal nanoparticles. ► Friction softening metal is deposited throughout the ceramics volume. ► In layers produced according to existing methods metal is only in ceramic pores. ► The deposited metal in layers causes significant reduction in friction and wear.
