Modification of hard alloy by the action of high power ion beams

► We study effects of pulsed ion beam treatment on hard alloy/(Ti,Cr)N coating system. ► Treatment leads to coarsening of (Ti,Cr)N and to melting of hardalloyed grains. ► The best operating mode for maximum hard alloy wear-resistance increase was found.
