SIMS analysis of hydrogen content in near surface layers of AISI 316L SS after electrolytic polishing under different conditions

► Conventional electropolishing (EP) diminishes the hydrogen concentration. ► Magnetoelectropolishing (MEP) reveals further reduction in the H concentration. ► As received (AR) and mechanically polished (MP) samples served as a reference. ► H concentration level in the surface film depends on the EP/MEP process conditions.
