Spatial decomposition of molecular ions within 3D atom probe reconstructions

► The need to deconvolute molecular ions within atom probe data is discussed. ► Two algorithms to separate the constituent atoms of molecular ions are proposed. ► The algorithms developed are tested on simulated and experimental data. ► Nearest neighbour distributions are used to highlight the improvements.
