Radiation dose assessment due to the presence of phosphogypsum (PG) in cement was investigated. The assessment was performed using appropriate radiation exposure model based on radiation measurements (gamma spectroscopy and solid state nuclear track detector CR-39). Radium equivalent and activity concentration index safety criteria were calculated. Results showed that the extra dose to the public due to this addition was within the acceptable levels. The results of this study support the safe use of PG in construction materials.
