GIS based analysis of future district heating potential in Denmark

• In this study the expansion potential for district heating in Denmark is examined.
• The potential is found by making GIS based cost models for DH and comparing the costs toindividual heating.
• A reference scenario with the current heat demand and a future scenario with reduced heatdemand are analyzed.
• We find that there is a potential for expanding district heating in Denmark, especially in areas with high density.
