The importance of flexible power plant operation for Jiangsu's wind integration

► Jiangsu's energy system in 2009 is modeled using the tool EnergyPLAN. ► The accuracy of the model results is validated by actual values in 2009. ► Different operation regulations are proposed and compared as wind integrated from 0% to 42% of the electricity demand. ► A flexible operation of power plants enables the existing energy system to accommodate more wind integration.
