Amine degradation in CO2 capture. I. A review

► We did a critical survey of literature about amine degradation in post-combustion. ► MEA, DEA, MDEA, PZ, AMP, other amines and amine blends were studied. ► Degradation products were listed and formation mechanisms were discussed. ► Influence of heat, CO2, O2, NOx and SOx were described. ► Conclusion is that much work remains to be done, especially about volatile products.
