This work considered the performance of four cross-flow rotating packed beds (RPBs) for removing carbon dioxide (CO2) by chemical absorption with three absorbents. The removal efficiency of CO2 in four cross-flow RPBs was determined at various operating variables, which were rotational speed, gas flow rate, and liquid flow rate. The experimental results demonstrated that the removal efficiency of CO2 increased with an increasing rotational speed and an increasing liquid flow rate, but decreased with an increasing gas flow rate in each cross-flow RPB. Additionally, the axial height of the packed bed affected the dependences of the removal efficiency of CO2 on the rotational speed, gas flow rate, and liquid flow rate. The obtained results revealed that increasing the axial height of the packed bed increased the removal efficiency of CO2. Furthermore, the absorbent type gave different dependences of the removal efficiency of CO2 on the axial height of the packed bed.
