Synthesis, structure, and photoluminescence properties of ZnSSe alloy nanorods

► Preparation of ZnSSe nanorods by thermal evaporation of ZnSe and ZnS powders. ► The nanorods were 70-150 nm in width, and a few tens of micrometers in length. ► The ZnSe nanorods showed a strong emission band in the blue-green region. ► The shoulder blue-shifted with increasing x in ZnSxSe1−x. ► Increase of the major emission intensity with increasing composition x in ZnSxSe1−x.
