Magnetic characterization of human blood in the atherosclerotic process in coronary arteries

►Blood samples are characterized by higher concentration of ferrimagnetic particles. ►Atherosclerotic blood samples consist of larger superparamagnetic clusters. ►Superparamagnetic particles in pathological samples are considered to be magnetite. ►The formation of ferrimagnetic particles is favoured in the atherosclerotic patients. ►Magnetite may play a role in the progression of atherosclerosis.
