The direct fabrication of Au and Pt nanoparticles by electrodeposition process on the screen-printed carbon strips (SPCS) has been investigated. The metal nanoparticles deposited on the SPCS were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersion X-ray spectrometry (EDS). The density and size of the nanoparticles on the working electrode were increased with the electrodeposition time. The catalytic activity of the metal nanoparticle-modified SPCSs were demonstrated by the electrochemical measurements. The detection of hydrogen evolution in 0.1 M HCl was studied using both Au nanoparticle-modified SPCS (Au-SPCS) and Pt nanoparticle-modified SPCS (Pt-SPCS) in connection with cyclic voltammetry (CV). The detection of H2O2 in PBS (pH 7.4) was studied using the Pt-SPCS using CV and chronocoulometry (CC). In this assay, the linear calibration ranged from 16 μM to 2 mM for H2O2. The combination of electrodeposition and screen-printing process enables the mass production of the electrochemical sensors possessing various catalyst activities.
