Among the number of novel titanium extraction processes being investigated around the world, the Fray–Farthing–Chen (FFC) is one electrochemical process during which a series of lower oxides are formed in succession from titanium dioxide. This paper reports a coupled electrochemical and diffusion model to determine the kinetic parameters and a better understanding of electrode reactions that occur during the process by modeling and comparison with the experimental voltammograms. The parameters would help in the modeling of the various titanium extraction processes being currently investigated. The reaction seems to be dependent on the concentration of oxygen to the first order, i.e, a first order reaction.
