• Transport property of Dirac electron through realistic magnetic barriers is studied.
• There exists a general (2n−12n−1)-fold resonance splitting rule for n-barrier structure.
• The smoothness of magnetic barrier weakens the resonant behavior of transmission.
• Conductance resonance can be controlled by adjusting structural parameters.

Transport property of graphene electron in two kinds of realistic magnetic barriers is studied. For symmetric magnetic barriers with perpendicular magnetization, transmission is symmetric in (E,ky)(E,ky) space. There exists a (2n−12n−1)-fold resonance splitting rule for n  -barrier structure due to the splitting of energy levels. For antisymmetric magnetic barriers with parallel magnetization, transmission is asymmetric in (E,ky)(E,ky) space, and the Fabry–Pérot resonance is observed. The smoothness of magnetic barrier weakens the resonant behavior of transmission. The conductance resonance can be controlled by the thickness of strips, the distance between strips and graphene, and the smooth electric barrier.
