Production and first use of 153SmCl3-ion exchange resin capsule formulation for assessing gastrointestinal motility

► Enteric-coated gelatin capsule containing 153Sm-labelled resin was manufactured. ► In vitro disintegration test ensured targeted release properties of the formulation. ► In vivo volunteers study confirmed safeness and practical use of the formulation. ► 153Sm can be used as an alternative nuclide to 111In in GI transit scintigraphy.
