Excitation functions for 7Be, 22,24Na production in Mg and Al by deuteron irradiations up to 50Â MeV

► Deuteron activation of structural elements of deuteron accelerators is studied. ► Production cross sections for 7Be and 22,24Na on Mg and Al-targets are presented. ► Comparisons with literature values and theoretical nuclear reaction codes are made.► Thick target yields are derived. ► Equivalent dose to personnel for different irradiation scenarios is calculated.
