Wedge diffraction of a critically incident Gaussian beam

► Description is given of the surface disturbance created by the critical Gaussian beam. ► It is shown how to utilize GTD to simulate interaction of this disturbance with the wedge tip. ► Thus, Interaction is described of a critical Gaussian beam with a large surface-breaking crack. ► The problem is of theoretical interest and of importance in Non-Destructive Evaluation.
