On the use of the Variational Theory of Complex Rays for the analysis of 2-D exterior Helmholtz problem in an unbounded domain

► We develop a numerical method for steady state 2D unbounded acoustic problems. ► A new type of shape function is introduced in the Variational Theory of Complex Rays (VTCR). ► The performances of the method are assessed on several examples and compared to the Boundary Element Method (BEM).
