Effects of Exogenous Phytohormones on Hairy Root Growth of Polygonum multiflorum and Biosynthesis of Anthraquinones in Its Hairy Root Cultures

The effects of exogenous phytohormones on hairy root growth of Polygonum multiflorum and the biosynthesis of anthraquinones in its hairy root cultures were studied. The results showed that 2, 4-D, NAA, and 6-BA possessed obvious effects on the growth of hairy roots and the biosynthesis of anthraquinones. The growth of hairy roots and the biosynthesis of anthraquinones were strongly restrained by 2, 4-D. However, NAA and 6-BA at the appropriate concentration were conducive to hairy root growth and accumulation of anthraquinones.
