Radiation-induced pemphigus vulgaris of the breast

Pemphigus vulgaris is a rare autoimmune mucocutaneous bullous disease. Patients with a history of pemphigus vulgaris – who need radiotherapy – may show a long lasting bullous cutaneous manifestation, typical of pemphigus, within radiation fields. The literature describes fewer than 20 radio-induced cases. While systematic corticosteroid therapy has proven to be useful, topical treatment used in association with corticosteroid therapy is rarely described. To our knowledge the use of modern dressing products has never been described. We report our experience in a case in which modern dressing products were usefully associated to systemic therapy.

RésuméLe pemphigus vulgaire est une maladie rare bulleuse auto-immune cutanéomuqueuse. Les patients qui ont des antécédents de pemphigus vulgaire peuvent souffrir de lésions cutanéobulleuses typiques de pemphigus dans le volume irradié. Moins de 20 cas de pemphigus radio-induits ont été décrits dans la littérature. La corticothérapie systémique a prouvé son utilité, tandis que les traitements topiques, en association à cette corticothérapie, ont rarement été décrits. À notre connaissance, l’utilisation des pansements modernes n’a jamais été décrite. Nous rapportons un cas clinique où les pansements modernes ont été associés à la thérapie systémique avec succès.
