Dégénérescence arthrosique facettaire responsable d'une spondylomyélopathie cervicale caudale chez un dogue allemand

A 3-year-old Great Dane is presented for 2-month hindlimb ataxia, recently worsened with forelimb paresia. A cervical spine injury is suspected. A myelography and CT scan show degenerative facet osteoarthrosis and synovial hypertrophy of C6-C7. A decompressive surgery is carried out by hemilaminectomy. Two months after surgery, the dog is ambulatory in spite of residual proprioceptive deficit on hindlimb. Caudal cervical spondylomyelopathy gathers a whole of spine lesions, responsible for medullary compression. The surgical treatment is to be adapted according to the encountered abnormalities.
