Érythème polymorphe idiopathique d'issue favorable chez une chienne

A 2 1/2-year-old Cocker Spaniel bitch was referred following the appearance of oozing lesions which failed to respond to treatment. Clinical examination revealed a febrile syndrome with crusty and ulcerative skin lesions affecting the entire dorsal surface of the animal; there was no mucosal involvement. Histopathological examination enabled a diagnosis of erythema multiforme with severe involvement of the adnexa. There was no evidence of medication being administered preceding the disease and a detailed diagnostic imaging and other explorations were negative. The patient was hospitalised for 4 days and received systemic antimicrobial, analgesic and rehydration therapy, in addition to daily antimicrobial shampooing and baths. The same topical and systemic antimicrobial therapy was continues when the dog returned home. The bitch recovered after 1 1/2 months but no hair regrowth was observed in the previously affected areas.
