• The accelerated dissolution method was introduced as the proposed measurement to the long-term anti-icing performance.
• The long-term anti-icing performance evaluation model of anti-icing asphalt pavement was developed.
• The climate characteristics of Shenyang in north-China was taken as an example to validate the feasibility of the evaluation model.
The objective of the present study is to evaluate the long-term anti-icing performance of anti-icing asphalt pavement. The natural soaking and accelerated dissolution methods were applied to obtain the dissolution percentage with time. The results show that the dissolution percentage of the accelerated dissolution test is 1.8 times that of the natural soaking test. So the natural soaking percentage can be calculated in terms of the result of the accelerated dissolution test. The regression model of salt dissolution with time was obtained through soaking dissolution test. The long-term anti-icing performance evaluation model of anti-icing asphalt pavement was developed by introducing area conversion coefficient, temperature acceleration coefficient, comprehensive influence coefficient and climate influence coefficient to the regression model. In the end, the climate characteristics of Shenyang in north-China was taken as an example to validate the feasibility of the evaluation model.
