Investigation of the strength development in cement-stabilised soils of volcanic origin
چکیده انگلیسی

Two sets of soils of volcanic origin, denoted LM1 and LM2, stabilised with variable OPC content and compacted at different pressures were studied. Optimal parameters, namely, compaction pressure, moisture and OPC contents have been defined for each sample in relation with their characteristic compressive strengths at the age of 7 days. Results show a compaction pressure of 8 MPa is adequate for both soils (LM1 and LM2) to yield maximum dry compressive strength of 9.0 ± 0.1 MPa. Furthermore, 20 wt% of coarse sand as sand replacement increases these values by about 50%. These results are acceptable values for building and civil engineering purposes.
