SummaryObjectiveThe authors of this study have attempted to develop a noninvasive therapeutic method, which aims to restore proper trophicity within the small pelvis. They made an attempt to assess the efficacy of the physiotherapeutic procedures aimed at moderating the severity of symptoms in patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and at improving patients’ quality of life.MethodsThe studies were carried out on a group of 43 men with BPH, who were subjected to a medical massage of the abdominal integuments. The I-PSS symptoms scale and LQ assessing quality of life tools were employed to assess the efficacy of the method.ResultsThere was an improvement in all studied cases: I-PSS improved 50% (P⩽0.0001P⩽0.0001) and LQ improved 41% (P⩽0.0001P⩽0.0001)). It should also be mentioned that the method was approved by patients, many of whom would like it to continue receiving this attention.ConclusionMedical massage intervention resulted in a marked subjective improvement in micturition and in patients’ subjective assessment of the quality of life.
