Les catégories d’interventions CIF s’appliquant à la physiothérapie des affections des systèmes et organes internes

Historique :La classification internationale du fonctionnement, du handicap et de la santé (CIF) facilite la compréhension interdisciplinaire du patient et de son traitement. Des études antérieures ont permis d’identifier des catégories CIF importantes pour la physiothérapie et de les rassembler dans une première version de catégories d’interventions.But :L’étude vise à examiner quelles catégories CIF de la première version se retrouvent dans l’activité clinique de physiothérapeutes qui traitent des patients souffrant d’affections des systèmes et organes internes.Méthode :L’étude a été réalisée en Suisse, sur un mode rétrospectif, multi-centrique et transversal. 77 institutions ont été sollicitées dans le but de recueillir 300 dossiers de patients traités pour des affections des systèmes et organes internes.Résultats :L’analyse de 280 dossiers provenant de 54 institutions a confirmé 36 catégories d’interventions CIF pour le contexte des soins aigus, 41 pour la réhabilitation et 38 pour le contexte des soins à long terme.Conclusion :La majorité des catégories d’interventions CIF de la 1re version a pu être confirmée. Les catégories définies sont un premier pas vers l’utilisation standardisée d’un langage commun à la profession.

Background:The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) is considered a useful tool to overcome differences amongst health professionals, and to facilitate a mutual understanding of patient’s health problem and its treatment. In preliminary studies, a first version of ICF intervention categories for physical therapy was developed.Objective:The aim of this study was to investigate which intervention categories of the first version are represented in the clinical practice of physical therapists treating patients with internal-medicine conditions.Methods:The study was designed as a retrospective cross-sectional multicenter study. 77 institutions in Switzerland were asked to send a total of 300 selected clinical records describing patients with internal medicine conditions.Results:The analysis of 280 patients’ records from 54 institutions enabled identification of 36 ICF intervention categories in acute, 41 in rehabilitation and 38 in long-term context.Conclusions:The ICF intervention categories identified in this study can help to define core competence of the physical therapy profession. The definition of ICF intervention categories represents a first step towards a standardization of treatment documentation. In this, they meet the demand of health care providers regarding quality of documentation on health care services.
