ZusammenfassungDer Artikel diskutiert die Bedeutung der sensomotorischen Kindesentwicklung für die Osteopathie. Osteopathie kann die normale Entwicklung des Kindes unterstützen, wenn sie die zeitliche und systematische Logik der sensomotorischen Entwicklung in der Diagnose und Behandlung berücksichtigt. Im Fokus stehen jene Funktionen, die den Aufrichtungsprozess tragen und langfristig das Wohl des Kindes beeinflussen: Nackenstabilität und Abbau der Moro-Reaktion, Feinmotorik der Hand, Augenbewegungen und Entwicklung des Sehens. Für die Ausbildung dieser Funktionen ist die Bauchlage von Bedeutung.Auf Grundlage neurowissenschaftlicher Forschungsergebnisse wird Sensomotorik als Vermittlungsarbeit zwischen inneren Wachstumsprozessen und der Umwelt verstanden. Sensomotorische Vermittlungsarbeit ermöglicht uns, in der Welt zu sein und diese zugleich zu gestalten. Die Bedeutung der Sensomotorik für die pädiatrische Osteopathie liegt insbesondere darin, dass sie die Einbettung der Entwicklungsprozesse in die natürliche und soziale Umgebung beschreibt. Grenzen und Möglichkeiten der pädiatrischen Osteopathie werden dadurch bestimmbar.

The article discusses the role of understanding sensorimotor development of child for pediatric osteopathy. Osteopathy will support normal child development, if it includes the logic of sensorimotor development in diagnosis and treatment. The discussion focuses on the visceral, neuro-hormonal and somatic functions that carry the development of uprightness: neck stability, decreasing Moro reflex, fine motor skills of the hand, eye movements and vision. In achieving these abilities the prone position plays a key role.On the basis of recent finding in neuroscience the sensorimotor system seems to mediate between internal growth processes and the external environment. It enables us to be in the world and act on it at the same time. By including the sensorimotor development into the osteopathic approach we are able to define the merits and limitations of pediatric osteopathy.
