Three faces of care…with similar features: Neonatal care across three continents

This paper explores differences in resources, care organisation and educational preparation of nurses undertaking neonatal care. Comparison draws on personal observations and data collected during visits to South India and Vancouver in Canada, to that provided locally in Kent, England. Differences in the organisation, training and role expectation are revealed – which need to be assessed by managers when employing nurses trained elsewhere. However despite the diverse social and cultural background to neonatal provision, common global issues remain – particularly with follow on care.
