Interrompre ou poursuivre la grossesse lors d'un diagnostic de Trisomie 21 : réflexions éthiques

This work sets out to discuss the arguments in favour of near-systematic pregnancy termination following a prenatal diagnosis of Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome). These include parents' limited understanding of Down syndrome and the associated handicap, the quest for a perfect child, the rejection of handicap by society, and the Public Health body's policy of terminating pregnancies for Down syndrome. The debate continues, and it is probable that in the more or less distant future, pregnancy terminations for Down syndrome will be less banal.
