Réflexions sur la grossesse pour autrui

The subject of several articles, reports and works, in 2010 surrogacy will be the object of an opinion and recommendations by Comité Consultatif National d'Ethique (National Board of Ethics) as part of the revision of the laws on bioethics. Although a great many eminent persons (philosophers, psychoanalysts, physicians specialised in Medically Assisted Reproduction) have taken a position, midwives have barely voiced their opinions. The Journées du Collège national des Sages-Femmes presented an opportunity to debate the question. After describing the present situation, both medical and legislative, in France and abroad, the authors present the positions of the different protagonists. They then develop the arguments and reflections developed within the Collège National des Sages-Femmes. In conclusion, the Collège National des Sages-Femmes is not in favour of surrogacy. Midwives consider that it involves a risk to the health of women and families.
