Toxicomanie chez la femme enceinte. Prise en charge spécialisée à Port-Royal entre 1998 et 2007

Pregnancy may be an opportunity for the drug addict to receive care. However, if she continues to consume, the guilt and the self-denigration may lead to an increase in drug related behaviour. Female drug addicts require special attention but are difficult to manage and tend to avoid hospitals. At Port-Royal, a mobile drug addiction team (EMA) was created in 1998 to answer their needs by means of specific interventions. The question was then raised as to what is the impact of the actions taken by a specialised team. This study consists of a retrospective analysis of the EMA files between September 1998 and December 2007. The pregnant drug addicts seen by EMA mainly come from special centres for drug addicts. The pregnancy allows for improved social care, the reduction or even the suspension of their consumption and favours the compliance with the care. The referral midwife on the team plays a fundamental role.
