Les techniques d'aide à l'expulsion

With a return to users wanting a more natural birth, and the increasing birth plans from future parents, birth professionals are all feeling the need to assess their practices. Different assisted expulsion techniques may be offered as part of a physiological pregnancy and a natural delivery, such as bathing during labour, “coaching”, perineal massage, applying warm compresses to the perineum, prolongation of the second stage of labour, delivery positions, and uterine expression. In this article these techniques, which have been the subject of studies, are analysed in order to conclude whether or not they are effective. But the lack of conclusive results can only serve to encourage the carrying out of further work in order to improve practices.
