ABSTRACTMany experienced clinicians feel comfortable with the diagnosis and treatment of anemia. However, the anemia of chronic diseases so prevalent in the elderly may represent a diagnostic challenge. New treatment strategies are now available for patients whose quality of life is adversely affected by this problem that is commonly ignored.
