Invasive pediatric electrophisiology is founded on principles developed in adult electrophisiology practice. So since 1990, radiofrequency (RF) catheter ablation has been available as an option for the nonpharmacological management of children and adolescents with tachyarrhythmias. The method can successfully eliminate a variety of arrhythmias with low risks of complications. During the procedure the application of radiofrequency energy can generate a small, precisely localized lesion on the endocardium and eliminate either an abnormal conduction fiber or an ectopic focus of tachycardia. The most important informations about the indications, efficacy and complications of the percutaneous radiofrequency ablation in children are presented.
