Vécu de la gastrostomie d'alimentation chez l'enfant handicapé cérébral : enquête auprès de 11 familles

Disabled children have cerebral swallowing disorders and eating disorders leading to malnutrition and its consequences. The gastrostomy feeding is proposed for these children for many years. The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of children and their families before and after the intervention. To do this, we created a questionnaire which was submitted to 27 families of children in our service operated between 1988 and 2006. Eleven families have responded. The gastrostomy is a treatment that satisfies more than 80% of parents of children with disabilities brain. It allows for improved physical well-being, psychological well-being and relations with the entourage of these children.
