La correction des « pieds plats valgus » au moyen de semelles moulées. Indications et limites

The pathogeny of the flat-valgus foot often observed in the cerebral palsied patients is studied. Joints physiology of the foot is developed for a better understanding in order to improve weight bearing and to avoid deformations in the future. The correction is different in the case of common flat foot from the flat-valgus foot. In the first case, the fore foot must be orientated in pronation. In the second case all the foot must be orientated in inversion and the fore foot in supination. In those conditions, the scaphoid bone covers the head of the astragal. In that manner, a new building of the internal arch of the foot becomes possible. After the correction obtained, a molded of the foot is made out of plaster in order to make a molded sole and orthopaedic shoe. In every case a clinical factorial analysis of the pathological cerebromotor factors must be made to adapt molded soles and shoes for each patient.
