Paraostéoarthropathie survenant dans un contexte de pathologie neurovasculaire

Paraosteoarthropathy is a condition where heterotopic bone tissue develops within the extra-articular tissues. It is termed neurogenic when it occurs in the aftermath of an attack of the central or peripheral nervous system. It is frequently described after head or spinal cord injury, but much less frequently after a neurovascular event. We reviewed the current literature to provide an update on paraosteoarthropathy, its clinical signs, complementary explorations needed to establish the differential diagnosis and propose appropriate treatment. In addition, based on our clinical experience, we considered the possible characteristics of patients who develop paraosteoarthropathy in the aftermath of a neurovascular disease.
