The insertion regions of the sinus tarsi ligaments allow a dynamic adaptation of the foot to the ground due to increased presence of elastic fibers. The elastic fibers of the ligamentous insertions of the ATFL, TNL and CTL give these mechanically highly demanded ligaments the flexibility to elongate.
