Charakteristika des atopischen Ekzems

The atopic eczema is often seen together with allergic rhinoconjunctivitis or allergic asthma as the classical “trias of atopic diseases”. The chronically relapsing itching atopic eczema is affecting 10-20% of the children and about 3% of the adults. Characteristics are sebostasis, irritability of the skin and poor resistance to infection together with predilection at flexural areas. Correspondingly basic therapy with emollients and proactive treatment of previous eczematous areas is recommended to avoid relapses.
