For lower limb amputations, the important key points are that the length of the stump indicates the length of the socket, if the stump is short the socket has to be longer. To choose the right components, it is necessary to determine what soft tissues are in the load zone, the bone structure and the unequal forces to the stump. Important for a good socket shape and alignment is to take an exact cast of the limb and perhaps to change the mould in the cast room, to prevent a false alignment and an incorrect load to the complete skeleton.

ZusammenfassungBei der prothetischen Stumpfversorgung der verschiedenen Amputationsniveaus am Fuß gilt grundsätzlich: Je kürzer der Stumpf desto höher der Prothesenschaft. Mitentscheidend zur Auswahl des Prothesentyps sind: die Weichteildeckung der Belastungszone, die knöcherne Struktur und die infolge der Amputation einwirkenden disharmonischen Kräfte auf den Stumpf. Durch eine genaue Gipsabnahme am Patienten und dem eventuellen Nachkorrigieren des Gipsnegatives verhindern wir eine Fehlstellung mit Spätfolgen.
