Manejo perioperatorio del niño diabético

RESUMENPacientes pediátricos con diabetes mellitus son manejados durante el periodo perioperatorio por anestesiólogos pediátricos, quienes monitorean muy cuidadosamente no solo los niveles de glicemia, sino también el tipo de cirugía a realizarse y la fisiopatología de la enfermedad. Este artículo presenta una guía práctica; un algoritmo para el manejo de pacientes pediátricos con diabetes mellitus sometidos a un acto quirúrgico, ya sea con anestesia general o regional.

SUMMARYPediatric patients with diabetes mellitus are managed during the perioperative period by pediatric anesthesiologist who carefully monitors glycemia levels, in addition to the type of surgery and the pathophysiology of the disease. This article represents a practical guide, an algorithm for managingpediatric diabeticpatients undergoing surgery, whether under general or regional anesthesia.
