Association of Symptoms of Depression and Obesity With Hypertension: The Bogalusa Heart Study

The presence of a significant indirect effect of symptoms of depression (mediated through higher level of BMI) in both whites and African Americans suggests that BMI can be an intermediate variable linking symptoms of depression and hypertension.
