Síndrome aórtico agudo

El síndrome aórtico agudo (SAA) incluye una serie de entidades clínicas diferentes entre las que se incluyen la disección aórtica clásica (DAC), el hematoma intramural (HI) y la úlcera penetrante aórtica (UPA). Todos ellos tienen en común, además del carácter agudo de su presentación clínica, la extrema gravedad que pueden conllevar y el distinto pronóstico y abordaje terapéutico dependiendo de su localización anatómica. Además, estos cuadros están relacionados en su etiología e incluso pueden evolucionar de unos a otros.Hemos incluido en el SAA la rotura traumática de aorta (RT A), que, si bien tiene diferencias marcadas en cuanto a la etiología del cuadro, es indudablemente una enfermedad aguda y muy grave de la aorta.

Acute aortic syndrome is currently considered a group of clinical entities that includes the classic aortic dissection, intramural aortic haematoma and penetrating atherosclerotic aortic ulcer. All of them have in common the acute clinical presentation; they are all critically serious diseases. The different prognosis and type of treatment depend on the anatomic location. These clinical entities are related according to the etiology and some times they can evolve from one to other.Acute traumatic thoracic aortic rupture has been included in the same group. Besides the different etiology, there is no doubt that this is also an acute serious clinical aortic entity.
