Decreased circulatory erythropoietin in hyperacute phase of myocardial ischemia

Decreased circulatory erythropoietin levels in the early phase of acute cardiac ischemia may accelerate the apoptotic activity. Recombinant erythropoietin replacement to prevent erythropoietin decrease following cardiac ischemia may have negative effect on myocyte loss.
