Actualización en cardiología intervencionista

En este artículo se revisan los avances más relevantes relacionados con la cardiología intervencionista, publicados en el último año. En cuanto al intervencionismo coronario, se revisan los avances relacionados con los stents fármacoactivos (SFA), el intervencionismo en el síndrome coronario agudo con y sin elevación del ST, el intervencionismo en el tronco común, las lesiones bifurcadas, las oclusiones crónicas y las novedades en relación con el intervencionismo en pacientes diabéticos. Se describen también los avances en las técnicas de diagnóstico invasivo (ecografía intracoronaria, tomografía de coherencia óptica y guía de presión) y no invasivo (tomografía computarizada multicorte). También se revisan los avances en terapia regenerativa y en tratamiento percutáneo de cardiopatías estructurales: foramen oval permeable y valvulopatías.

This article contains a review of the most important developments in the field of interventional cardiology reported during the past year. With regard to coronary interventions, the review covers: progress in drug-eluting stents; interventions for acute coronary syndrome, with or without ST-segment elevation; percutaneous treatment of the left main coronary artery, bifurcation lesions and chronic occlusions; and recent developments in the treatment of diabetic patients. Developments in invasive (i.e. intracoronary ultrasound, optical coherence tomography and pressure wires) and non-invasive (i.e. multislice CT) diagnostic techniques are also described. In addition, this article contains a review of recent developments in regenerative therapy and in the percutaneous treatment of structural heart diseases, such as patent foramen ovale and valvular heart disease.
