چکیده انگلیسی
Nowadays, the aim of cardiac pacing is not only to prolong life-expectancy in patients with atrioventricular block, as it was initially, but also to improve the quality of life of these patients and that of those with sick sinus syndrome and other heart conditions for which pacemaker implantation is required according to generally accepted recommendations. Consequently, it is very important to understand both the safety margins of single-and dual-chamber pacing, and the complex automatic functions incorporated into present-day pacemakers, such as automatic capture verification, automatic output adjustment, rate-responsiveness, automatic mode switching, and the reduction, using various algorithms, of unnecessary right ventricular pacing, which has recently been highlighted following verification of its detrimental effects.
