Cáncer de páncreas, diagnóstico y tratamiento paliativo con terapia homeopática

ResumenEl cáncer de páncreas es la neoplasia maligna del tracto gastrointestinal con mayor mortalidad. En Estados Unidos y México constituye la cuarta causa de muerte por cáncer. Cuando la neoplasia no es resecable quirúrgicamente, la sobrevida a 5 años es menor del 4%. La principal causa del pronóstico sombrío de esta neoplasia es la dificultad para realizar un diagnóstico temprano. La pancreatoduodenectomia es la única posibilidad de cura, pero solo del 10 al 25% de los pacientes son candidatos a ella. Debido a lo anterior, los cuidados paliativos tienen un papel importante en el tratamiento de estos pacientes y su objetivo es mejorar la calidad de vida del enfermo. Como tratamiento paliativo, la homeopatía se utiliza principalmente para fortalecer el cuerpo en su lucha contra el cáncer, mejorar el bienestar general y aliviar el dolor y se debe considerar en los pacientes terminales con este tipo de cáncer. Se presenta la experiencia en el manejo de estos pacientes con terapéutica homeopática.

Pancreatic cancer is the malignant process of the gastrointestinal tract with the highest mortality. In the USA and Mexico, pancreatic cancer is the fourth cause of death-related cancer. The overall survival at 5 years is lower than 4%, with a 15% survival at 5-years when the tumor is extirpated. The difficulties in recognizing the early the possibility of an underlying malignancy is associated with late diagnosis and poor prognosis. Pancreatoduodenectomy is the only treatment able to provide a cure, although only 10% to 25% of patients are candidate to this therapy. For those reasons palliative care is important in the treatment of these patients, with the aim of improving quality of life. In this regard, homeopathy therapy can play an important role improving the body strength, pain perception and sensation of well-being, and should be considered in terminal patients with this form of cancer. We present our experience with homeopathic therapeutics on these patients.
