Enquête INTENSIIA : enquête de pratiques auprès des diabétologues libéraux français sur l'intensification de l'insulinothérapie des patients diabétiques de type 2
چکیده انگلیسی
INTENSIIA (Inventaire des tactiques et des nouvelles stratégies d'intensification insuliniques adaptées) survey is a quantitative survey proposed to the 727 French private-practicing diabetologists; 138 (19.0%) participated in it. It was conducted through Internet, from September 11, to October 7, 2009. The aim of the questionnaire was to explore insulin treatment intensification practices and their rationale, based on three type 2 diabetic (T2D) patients' cases: the first one from the diabetologists' actual clinical practice, namely the last T2D patient treated with one basal (intermediate - or long-acting) insulin for whom they had intensified insulin therapy; and two theoretical standardized clinical cases of failure to control diabetes, representative of usual clinical situations: a case where the therapeutic regimen was a basal insulin injection and oral antidiabetic agents, and a case where it was two premixed insulin injections. With regard to these two latter cases, insulin regimen and educational practices when implementing insulin treatment intensification were asked. Survey results are presented and discussed. Differences in educational strategies were observed according to which insulin regimen was preferred by the diabetologist. His/her personal experience appears to play a key role in these preferences.
